Jared Crience's Story

In December 2012, Jared's defence lawyer lodged a second bail application in the Supreme Court. He argued that the Crience case had been weakened by results of a post-mortem examination which showed Alison had traces of an antidepressant drug in her blood. Justice David Bades said that Jared posed a significant flight risk and a bail was refused. On March 11, 2013, the committal hearing began. More than 40 witnesses testified and 330 witness statements were presented. The arguments against Jared were clear. He stood to gain a $1 million life insurance payer, which would clear him of debt. And he was having a long-running affair with his mistress Tony McHugh.
