The Story of William Burke
Dudley Edwards believes that Burke's story springs naturally from his upbringing and life experience. Despite questioning them, the authorities are stuck. There's no evidence of a murder but lots of circumstantial evidence there were crimes going on. The Sheriff substitute George Tate doesn't know anything apart from the fact that a woman is dead, and that's it. He meets with Lord Sir William Ray, Scotland's chief law officer, who says: 'We are no further down this road' We have witnesses who tell us that the woman's body was taken in a box from your house to the doctors at Surgeon Square. They will swear to it in court. What? They saw no mess up
