There's activities that you can do that kind of broaden you or teach you things that they're not. They're neither directly moving you immediately towards a goal in the short term nor are they about reorienting the long term. And so an example of that might be following your curiosity or learning about an area that seems potentially interesting, but you don't have a specific application in mind for it.
