Is Herd Immunity a Good Idea?

We have never had natural herd immunity. The only herd immunity that we've ever, ever achieved is through vaccination. That's why smallpox is no longer in a problem, because we created herd immunity and it's now extinct. I don't know if everyone understands what herd immunity is. Once about 70 % of a population is resistant to to a virus, then the virus has a hard time finding its next victim. It peters out at that point.
