The Office for National Statistics have reported inflation figures. The figure came in at 8.7%, the same as in the year to April. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey was worried that high inflation could become entrenched in a spiral of self-fulfilling expectations. He candidly told me of his fears over worker wages.
