The Pitted Metaphor of Stuck
In God's providence, we need one another to properly discern the mind of Christ. I don't think of African American biblical interpretation as the magic or key that unlocks all doors. But it has a distinctive gift to offer to the United States. When the Bible is written from the perspective of the oppressed, well, Israel is often economically and politically weaker than its enemies. And even the people within that who are writing these texts are writing where they have no power. This is like the kingship of Yahweh and the Psalter. Can you understand the importance of God as king? Yes, but it's more of a homoelucal leap of imagination.
