How to Balance Zinc and Copper in the Diet

Zinc probably doesn't become a problem until it's over 50 milligrams per day. You want to keep your zinc-to-copper ratio somewhere between 2 to 1 and 15 to 1 in favor of zinc. Zinc is the thing that's increasing metallothionine, which can cause copper malabsorption. The use of PPIs and antacids could certainly contribute to copper deficiency.
