Playing Games in Math and Physics
There is an aspect of math that is game playing, especially in pure math. That's not to be sneezed at on utilitarian grounds. It turns out it's often very practical and useful,. But I wouldn't want to just make the utilitarian argument. It's also part of the human spirit. Just be curious for the sake of curiosity and it may never turn out to be useful. And that's okay. We are here talking with Professor Steve Strogatz about why math and physics are so closely intertwined.
