The Role of Context in Psychology
The same overt behaviors are seen across cultures it means something different in trait models we can up smooth out these cultural idiosyncrasies quite a bit but we couldn't ignore them in state models. If punctuality reflects conscientiousness coming from a place of wanting to get ahead in America in a western culture it might not reflect that in a another culture where that's not necessarily reflective of respect or something like that and so on last question what we really want to do in psychology is understand why people differ and describe this well and do this in a way that is actually human understandable.
