Lindell roper, regis professor of history at the university of oxford. Lindel: Martin luther is credited with launching the reformation but he seems to have been relatively conservative compared to some other reformation leaders. To be willing to defend that view in front of the emperor and all the assembled estates of the german empire really takes enormous courage. And sometimes i think that that example of resistance is almost as important as some of the things that he wrote.
