No Such Thing As A Fish
Are We All Like the Ick People?
The Ick people are used in textbooks as an example of selfishness. This comes from a study by anthropologist Colin Turnbull in the 60s. He published a book that described them as extraordinarily unfriendly, uncharitable and mean. But later on he was found to have just made stuff up during a famine. No one went back to study the Ick people again until decades later. They didn't trust any more white people to come and study them at any stage for 30 years.
