The Importance of the Rule of Law in Democracy

David Frum: Israel is a threat to democracy in the United States as well. He says many of those pushing for remaking Israeli judiciary are also people who want to undermine U.S. democracy. The rule of law provides backstops and protections for citizens that evolve over time, he says. Frum: If you believe in democracy, you have to believe in an independent judiciary not just another arm of politics.
