This was the single worst day in earth history. Dinosaurs had dominated the world so thoroughly for well over a hundred million years, and literally in one day, their empire toppled. Some estimates from fossils suggest that more than nine out of every ten mammals, more than 90 %, died in that extinction. Our ancestors barely squeaked through, but they did. We did have ancestors that faced down the asteroid and survived it and got through it. Otherwise we wouldn't be here. But in the grand scheme of things, i mean, the odds were not on our side.
