Ida Tarbell's history of standard oil was an incredibly popular and widely read piece of writing. After tarbell finished that 19 part series, as tracy just mentioned, she wrote a two part biographical profile of rockfe which ran in july and august of 19 o five. And while she covered his devout religious beliefs, his church attendance and his philanthropy, her critical tone was not as restrained as it had been for the rest of the report.
