Quantum Foam and the Chasmere Effect
It would take many times the current age of the universe for black holes to evaporate. So it's not something you're just going to sit there and watch a black hole evaporate. Quantum foam is experimentally tested as weird as it is. It could give rise to wormholes, just pair producing small wormholes with ends being separated by a bit.
