How to Build on Work That Students Are Doing at School
A journal called a scholarly review publishes student work after a selective peer review process. The editorial board is composed of professors who have wide ranging expertise across different subjects. I think this is a very mature way for high school students to think about what research they want to do. Build on your existing strengths. But if in doubt, actually think about what you've already done and then working with a university professor can be really valuable.
