The Relationship Between the Id and the Ego

The id is the horse, or the multiple horses that you've got pulling your carriage forward. The ego is the rider - he's the rational one and in control of his life. And then we have the 'super ego', which is our moralizing part but also critical self. It guides us to live up to something more than what we are currently doing.
