How to Write a Letter to a Friend

The novel is about a young man trying to tell his friend how well he's doing after the death of his mother. The son then tries to write back, but finds himself in an 'insoluble dilemma' He finally decides to go and see his father - who at first seems unwell before bursting forth with vigour. But when it becomes clear that no-one knows what has happened between him and his father, things get even more complicated.
