CHAPTER

The Dorset Dialect: A Journey to Poetry

The song that opens the new album is called Prayer the Gate. Polly, you know, it occurs to me that the line describes what you've done with this album and with the book or Lamb. You did it by weaving together all these different art forms. It quite quickly took its own shape and then felt like it was leading me. The Dorset dialect gave me such another lively form to work with because it gave the words a kind of double meaning. So for instance, you're pulling the word Wirdle out. Although it means World and Dorset dialect, also got word in there and of course the Word of God.
