Chaucer's Canterbury Tales

It was written in modern English with none of the archaic spelling or pronunciation. Besides that, the writing itself was of questionable quality. In the prologue over a hundred tales are promised, but most complete surviving version doesn't even reach two dozen. The book just sort of ends, with Chaucer adding a short epilogue imploring God for forgiveness.
