Language and Language as Enables of Human Power
Human beings didn't invent power, but we got especially good at gaining it and using it. And there are just a few things that enabled that. One was our tool using ability. Another was our ability to to use fire as a particular tool. This was turned out to be really important later on when we found fossil fuels. Language enables us to coordinate our behaviour over space and time. It gives us all kinds of increased ability in terms of tool design and use. We drove up many other species to extinction even before we had state societies and kings or all that stuff. That's a later chapter.
