We Can Choose. We Have No Choice
Judaism doesn't believe in fate as something blind, inevitable and inexorable. A prophet delivers not a prediction but a warning: this will happen unless you change. We pray for a good fate but we do not reconcile ourselves to fatalism. There is no sentence against which we cannot appeal by showing that we have repented or changed.
