Is There a Consciousness Spectrum?
So much is happening in your brain that it's tough to tell what is conscious and what is not. It seems like science of the last 15 or 20 years has been steadily filling in this gap so that you can't draw a line nearly as sharply as you used to. What if somebody were conscious, but just could not say, i'm here, ri rit could? Maybe they have some kind of motor impairment that prevents them from moving a hand when i asked them to write. Then that would be sufficient for me to infer that there is agency in you - which iswatat where we draw the line.
