Paul: Memetic desire is wanting what other people want because they want it you right so not by coincidence we're converging on the things. They're affecting and influencing us at the level of desire without us knowing it, he says. Paul: I had inklings that this was going on right after college when I took that first job in Hong Kong. He recalls how quickly he adapted to just shifting to those kind of mimetic objects which were a wake-up call for him. "I didn't learn the phrase mimetic desire until like eight years later" said Paul.
