Hosea's Marriage to a Prostitute
Some call his work an incarnation or ministry, in which the prophet's message is embodied in his personal life. He condemns the nation for its apostasy, for turning away from Yav'e and lusting after Baal. God has commanded Hosea to marry a prostitute, as a symbol of God's own marriage with Israel. Eugh, Prostitute. As Hosea's wife is a whore to him, so Israel has been a whore toYav'e. This is pretty rough stuff.
