The Crime of Aggression in International Law
RUSSIA'S invasion of another sovereign nation as anything other than aggression? And what defences would they possibly be able to raise to that charge? There are two that have been ed at by the russian government. The first is that they were invited in by two independent states in order to protect them from aggression by ukraine. Second argument, which russia has sort of hinted at, is that it needs to go in to protect people from an impending genocide. That ar ment is actually being tested by the kranians at the international court of justice.
