More than 30,000 Kurdish people have been displaced and their homes taken by those relocated refugees. Olive farms in the area have been seized and then leased to fund the operation of the pro-Turkish Syrian National Army. Some of the people fighting alongside the SNA are themselves former cadres of ISIS. The Turkish operation is a consequence of Trump's choice to abandon the SDF and the people who defeated ISIS.
