Are some people born perfectionists? Or do learn this trade? Or is it some combination? Definitely it's a combination. Two kids could both be perfectionists, but have got there on very different routes depending on what their experiences are in the family. A big thing would be the peer environment. If your hypercompetitive peers are expressing the need to be perfect and you feel the need to keep up. And then no broader social cultural factors in terms of belief that certain countries, or certain areas of the united states, for instance, have more of a focus on perfectionism.
