Henrietta Levitt: A Woman's Story
Henrietta Levitt lived during a time when very few women had jobs and they definitely didn't have the same opportunities in science that men did. Fortunately, Henrietta's family thought differently than most people at the time. Her father was a pastor and they believed in education for women. So she was lucky in that they supported her to go to college. After she graduated, Henrietta started looking for a job in astronomy and she found one at Harvard. She created the first pictures of the stars using photographic plates.
