I think the obsession with distopian and utopia narrative is actually prety uniquely western. I mean, when i read writers from japan or from africa, from south america, i think there's a much more diverse set of responses. Lot of the global writers that impress me tend to tell stories about how local values and local stories can come up with unique solutions. We're trying to figure out how to construct futures with architectural vernaculars unique to each place. And you know, it's very hopeful to see visions of of the future which tapped into the local traditions and the local ingenuity of people with a different narrative history.
