The Relationship Between Instability and Childhood Outcomes

A lot of people focus on income or socioeconomic status, family background, this kind of thing. In developmental psychology and a lot of the research, they make a distinction between childhood harshness and childhood instability. And every single study that I've looked at, the link between instability and childhood outcomes is much stronger. It's something that I think is overlooked about what are the factors that lead to more positive versus negative outcomes for kids.
