The Myth of the Kritans
The ancient greek word is mythos and like it definitely didn't have that inherent connotation i wish i'd look this up i'm such a dork um yeah i mean basically that's it so like it wasn't always fiction. They really did see it as like their own cultural history and their own cultural stories that had this like deep tie to them as people but you can kind of see how these things came about in ancient krit they they had bull iconography on everything and then eventually the story of the minotaur comes out.
