How to Think of the Gods of Canaan and Neighboring Gods?

There are ways of thinking about Yahweh absorbing qualities of other gods. One is to somehow recognize God's activity in and through all these deities that kind of resemble the biblical God. The other route, which is definitely the more common one in the history of Christian theologizing is to say Kymosh and crew are demons. And then a third option is to think along Bardian and Rosen-Svijian lines that the biblical God is just explainable in all the same ways as our other ancient gods.
