Bond vigilantes is a term that i invented back in the early eighties. The idea being that the federal reserve certainly has a tremendous influence on the economy, but though we shouldn't underestimate the extent to which the financial markets, particularly the bond markets, can also have an influence. And sure enough, when the fed pivoted from being extremely dovish for many years to being hawkish at the beginning of the year, even before the fed really started to aggressively raise interustrates, the bondage landis figured it out and pushed the interstrates up dramatically.
