Reading for Life

Parents can take one of two approaches to teaching children reading. One is a whole language approach where they're not even looking at the words. The other is an analytic phonix approach, in which parents are helping them sound out sounds. This could be done by sequentially processing every letter - that's what good readers do. It also helps store those words in long term memory when spelling. And with so much focus on early reading, it's sometimes neglected that writing is harder.
