Catalyst Realism in the Anglophone World

Catalyst realism, especially in its opening chapters, is a particularly bleak work and resonates with Fisher's distinctly gothic disposition that reflected in his early thesis on gothic materialism. The affect of capitalist realism is also in many senses centered around the defeats of the left in the Anglophone world. They can't even reproduce capitalism itself, but nonetheless no one knows any different, so Britain sold us on. It's exemplified in an early scene in Children of Men when the government has gathered iconic artworks taken from the world as it is collapsing around them purely for sacred preservation.
