What Is Going on in Science?

In your scientific theory, there are typically no rivals. It is the scientific theory. There's one. Best case scenario in the history of sciences, we've had two rival explanations. In some cases like dark energy, dark matter, a more complete understanding of evolution by natural selection, how viruses work, name your scientific mystery. We have zero theories. If we're lucky we've got one that we can rely upon and rather often, not rather, extremely rarely we have two. So forget about Bayesian reasoning whether you presume, oh, let's just wait all our eight or nine different theories. We don't know of a situation where that actually is truly the case.
