Does Life Becoming Less Digital Change User Testing?

Do you think with life becoming less, does that change the fundamental model of how you do user testing? I would hazard a guess that there is every year more research being done about physical products. And two, might when there's more augmented reality and people are actually interacting in a much more physical way, might you actually have to go back to the observing live in person because you can't just over the internet.
