Is There a Role for Monitoring in the ICU?
Pulmonary cerebral index is just a quicker approach to diagnosis. It's like the reinvention of the swan in the cardiac anesthesia in the ICU space. If your pulmonary palsy index starts getting greater than 2.2, you're heading the right way. And in the VAD population, another concept that I always struggled with, we always felt the right ventricle was structurally failing. That alone will lead to a dramatic change in your pulmonary cerebral index.
