You Move, You Move Because You Like the View
There's such a strong tendency to cast mobility functional terms. But when we think about our own lives, we people move for all sorts of reasons. And it makes no sense to assume that people in the past would have been like, we're living in some sort of state of nature where they only moved because they absolutely had to. When we have rich archives, historians are able to write stories that nto agency, that think about human creativity and resiliency and choice.
