What Is a Hate Hoax?
There were two events at the University of Illinois in recent years. One was supposedly there was a noose in the elevator. And it turned out that there was just some, you know, Looney guy who made it out of yarn. The other thing that happens sort of frequently is the menorah outside of the Hillel Center gets stolen or vandalized. So these aren't, these aren't hoaxes. These were not perpetrated by people against themselves but the reaction of the university was immense.
