The Future of Pop Culture Japan by Murakami Haruki

i sympathize deeply with that feeling of like there's got to be something more here um this can't be all that we are. i think some of that you know as you've sort of pointed out has to do with that hyper normalization as a phenomenon and the some of the strange gender politics. So what is this low affect living in murakami's fiction which you're suggesting is emblematic of a sort of cosmopolitan cool ethos amidst precarity and hopelessness? I'm not one of them but it's just interesting to see the variety of objections to and and problems with uh cool japan.
