By the 80s, Doris fish was San Francisco's best known drag queen. The shows became a kind of underground phenomenon. There were in in blancin I think 16 costume changes for each character that had to be done in ladies room the size of a telephone booth. Romantic cruelism was a philosophy invented pretty much by Doris's closest friend who has been living in as a woman in Paris for the last 40 years.
