Mosley was one of Britain's first pilots, although he did not distinguish himself with particular competence in this field. He wound up in the 16th Queen's Lancers, a cavalry union and saw action on the Western Front. During a training exercise, when his mom and sister were watching, he attempted to impress them and accidentally crashed his plane. Mosley went back to the Western Front after that, still injured, and eventually passed out from pain at his post during a battle.
