The Conflict of Science and Religion

Science and religion are not non-overlapping magisteria, a Stephen J. Gould called it. They do overlap, they do in Tangle around two issues. One is the question of humanity, and the other is who gets to say who we are. Both of those were really up for grabs at the time that Draper was writing. When those two things come together, humanity and authority, that's the time when this myth of science and religion takes off.
