Saul's Psychological Breakdown

Saul is a very conflicted person here. He could just, I suppose, command him to be imprisoned or something like that. It does seem that Saul has sent David out once Saul becomes this suspicious of David. But that David's ability to soothe him has waned. So Saul is no longer able to hear from David. And maybe even in a moment of clarity, he decides he's going to send him out because he'd rather do that than kill him. The next scene he's falling apart again.
