Dopamine Deficiency

You want the proper balance of methylation so that you can maintain the tonic pool just right, high enough to stick to something and focus on it. In vitamin A deficiency you don't have enough expression of dopamine receptors. So you can have the right level of dopamine and ultimately it's not going to communicate the value of that thing. The ability of dopamine to attach high value to a particular thing is dependent on the GABAergic suppression of all the alternatives.
