How To Read Seneca (The World’s Most Interesting Stoic)

The Daily Stoic

CHAPTER

Choosing Yourself a Catorite

One of the things that really struck me reading seneca in my early twenties is he talks about choosing yourself a cato rite. He said, there is a need, in my view, for some one as a standard against which our characters can measure themselves. Without a ruler to do this against, you cannot make crooked straight. So i love this idea of picking a model, picking someone whom you are checking yourself against. Seneca really talks beautifully about how we are spendthrifts with time and don't value our most precious resource.
