CHAPTER

The Human Proclivity to Accept the Dilemmas of the Group

People in eastern Europe were exhausted by the war, and they thought communism would give them a sense of wholeness. The human proclivity to go along with the dictates of the group is actually an admirable proclivity. And so whether or not people fit in is of cardinal importance to nature who's developing properly. But sometimes the crowd is a mob, and sometimes society has gone off the rails. So then what do you do? You develop past being a tenager into an autonomous individual who's an autonomous contributor to the group. Then hopefully you have enough moral integrity to stand for what you see and think when you're called upon to do that.
