What Philosophy Is It?
She says that the style of Greek thinkers is unusual for being a kind of disinterested effort. It is childlike because they are playing with ideas but at the same time it is scientific, she says. The reason that we want to know the world partly is just to know it but partly it is also to master it and so that we can control it. This is an important theme also within this western tradition she says.
